> Il Mago - The Magician

Hey, today I met a magician! A real magician!!!
He was able, with his magic wands, to make you go back through time and to transform old people into children!
Ah, I knew that, I can imagine your sceptical faces again...
Let's start at the very beginning, a very good place to start!
I was going to work when, once I arrived in Piazza del Popolo, I noticed a little group of people who were watching, amazed and happy, a show of one of the many street performers you can meet sometimes.
Then over those people I saw giant soap bubbles flying, light and delicate, and they were so big you could sit inside them!
Using wind as partner, mister Renzo (that's the "magician's" name) , with graceful movements of his magic wands, gave birth to the spheres that shone of thousands colours in the sun!
And that's when I went back through time...
... I went back to when during summer, in the country, me and my cousin made our little, but so beautiful, bubbles, mixing in a mug ingredients from our "secret recipe" : water and dishes soap, and sugar to make them more coloured, in our opinion.
We spent hours this way, sitting on the low window of our grandmother's kitchen, blowing our bubbles through an old pen, from which we took out the ink soul...
The happy exclamation of a child brought me back in the present, the youngest ones were running after those soap bubbles, bigger than themselves, to pop them.
And with them also adults were running: boys and girls following the bubbles, until they were breathless and stopped running to hug each other; grandmothers and grandfathers became children again, running and trying to jump always higher to catch the bubbles.
And the bubbles, kept flying quietly, making smile everyone, even those people who looked so indifferent, distract and busy, running to work tight in their coats.
Tell me then, isn't it a magic? ;-)

> Quando mancano le parole... - When you can't find words...

When I don't have words to describe a day, luckily Paint helps me.
So this is a representation of these five hours of work.

And, seeing as we're talking about drawings made with Paint, finally I learned how to use curved lines and I discovered a new world!

It's a bit not focused, but you can see it anyway! ^^

Ciao! :-)

> Il giorno dopo ieri - The day after yesterday

The day at the Circolo degli Artisti was nearly too quiet, even if in the end I must say it was worth it and the Pink Fairy was adopted!
So risking hibernation, while wearing a crazy red wig, was worthwhile!
Meanwhile, time to answer to the opinion poll finished, so...
As for the question "What would you do to your pc when it stops working without a reason?", to which 4 (!) people answered, results were distributed this way:
0% would restart the pc crossing their fingers, hoping it would come back as normal. Superstition is something ancient...
25% relies on faith, indeed they would restart it praying in Sanskrit that it comes back to normal...
Another 25% is more rational and would just restart the crazy machine...
And, to finish, 40%, neglecting diplomacy, would throw it against the wall...
Well, thank you all for answering!

> Lavoretti dell'ultimo minuto! - Last minute little works!

These are some of the little works I could make during some spare time and that tomorrow I'll take to the market of the Circolo degli Artisti...

Yum! - Magnetic delights: 80s Tegolino (Italian snack; once it was squared, now it's a rectangle), fruit cake and jam tart... Yum!

Una molletta magnetica con formaggio... Ri-yum! - A magnetic peg with cheese... Yum again!

... Ed una delle mie fatine... - ... And one of my little fairies...

Speriamo bene! :-)
Fingers crossed!

> Arcobaleno - Rainbow

Of course there's a reason why I named my blog like that!
This wonderful natural phenomenon always fascinated me and I've always loved to be surrounded by those seven colours.
And since some time it became very special for me
:-)
I won't write a treatise about the rainbow, but I thought it would have been curious to know how it's called around the world...
That's what I discovered, after some questions here and there...

Arcobaleno
(Italiano - Italian)
Rainbow
(Inglese - English)
Duha
(Ceco - Czech)
Regnbåge
(Svedese - Swedish)
Arco-iris
(Portoghese e Spagnolo - Portuguese and Spanish)
Regenbogen (Tedesco - German)
Niji (Giapponese - Japanese)
Raduga (Russo - Russian)

Ĉielarko
(Esperanto)

E voi? Conoscete altre lingue in cui dire "arcobaleno" ?
Se sì, non esitate ad aggiungerle!
:-D
;-)

And you? Do you know other languages to say "rainbow" ?
If yes, add them here, please! :-D
I'm also here to tell you that another market is coming!
Sunday 17 January, Uapa will be at the Circolo degli Artisti , where she'll show her little works with Marzia, the Creative Cat!
Come there for a walk! ;-)

Today and tomorrow Uapa will have to work aaall day... :-S
But maybe that means she'll have free Saturday! :-)
Uapa started the day with a happy thought ^^'
Surrounded by blogs written by poets, graphic designers, sculptors, painters and various artists, Uapa finally decided to start thinking about her little works, after she abandoned them for a while, just before December... To make a beads rose!
Finding open shops in the first days of the year was an adventure, finding the stuff she needed, a mission impossible... Are they all working with beads?! And all working with the colour she chose??!!
Anyway, despite all the troubles, after days and days of desperate research and patient work, that's the result! :-)

PS: Ricordate di partecipare al sondaggio! ;-)
PS: Don't forget to leave your opinion on the poll! ;-)

> Sondaggio - Opinion Poll

Ogni riferimento a cose o fatti realmente accaduti è puramente casuale... >:-(
Non dimenticatevi di rispondere! ;-)

Here on the right there's the first opinion poll of 2010!
Any reference to things or real events is purely coincidental... >:-(
Don't forget to leave your opinion! ;-)

Once a comic actor talked about it, during a show, and we all laughed a lot, cos of such an absurd thought.
So, some time ago, being bored and not knowing what to look for on Google, I typed, without caring much about it, "Liberation Garden Gnomes", without expecting to find something actually. 20900 results, that's not a joke! The movement really exists and it works in whole Europe! I'll tell you what it's all about in few words. Its supporters believe that garden gnomes have a soul and each one of them is a prisoner, forced to smile for ever, in the garden of his cruel owner. Imagine what a sad destiny for a creature of the forest, who was born free...! But that's when the Garden Gnome Liberation Front takes action! The gnome is taken away from the place of his imprisonment and taken to a wood, and the plaster statue that represents him is broken: that's how the gnome's soul is finally set free! Well, having said that, for all those of you who have a garden with gnomes: keep your eyes well open! ;-)

> Lotteria Italia 2010 - Lottery of Italy 2010

;-)

For some weeks I kept repeating to relatives, friends and work mates that today I would have won lottery.
I didn't say I "hoped" to win lottery; I asserted I would have really "won" it, sure of what I was saying, like if it was obvious.
Now, can you imagine my face, when on tv they said the ticket that won the second prize, of 5000000 € , has been sold in Rome?
And can you also imagine how I'd like to see the faces of all those people to whom I said I would have won??
Ah, such a great show!
;-)

> Rieccomi! - Back!

:-D Chissà quante risate i passanti... :-$
Che impressione, siamo negli anni 10!!! :-O

It's a long time I don't write here, so let's go a bit back in the past...
The week before Christmas Steve came here from England to visit me!!!
Six wonderful days during which i could share my city with him, for our birthday too! :-)
Unfortunately polar freezing weather kept us company all the time, but it wasn't enough to stop us, so, among penguins and white bears, we could visit a good part of Rome anyway... Shame for the closed pier in Ostia! Why?! I even lost my way to arrive there from Fiumicino! ^_^ '
Finally, at home, he could meet my parents! As i thought, everything was ok, although I was translating what three people said talking all together at the same time and although my grandmother didn't learn his name yet: "Stiff? Stir? Strif? Uhm... Stefano! Stefano! Stefanooo!" XD
We dedicated a day to Stimigliano and Casperia, whose little streets represent the picture of Italy like many people out of here imagine it in their mind (luckily we're not just seen like pizza-mandolino-mafia)... Unfortunately, unlike the common belief, being the "country of sun" doesn't dispens us from cold wind and frozen rain! XD
In Rome we visited the Pincio, Piazza del Popolo, the Ara Pacis, the Spanish Steps and Trinità dei Monti, Trevi Fountain (with the traditional coin) , the Pantheon, Largo Argentina and its lovely cats (remember a furry friend is waiting to be adopted!) , Piazza Navona (with its traditional Christmas market and its giant donuts) , Piazza Venezia and the Altare della Patria, Piazza del Campidoglio, Tiberina Island and the Broken Bridge, the Colosseo and the Fori Imperiali (shame for the strike of the subway), Trastevere, St Peters (on the dome too! Dizzineees! I walked on the wall like a gecko! XD), St Angelo's Bridge and its ghost, Piazza Barberini and Via Veneto, Corso Italia and Porta Pia with its breach in the Aurelian Walls... We even met Dracula... At this point I must quote my grandmother again: "Eh... You didn't show him anything then!:-(" Of course our feet don't agree with her at all! :-|
Several times we were surprised by the charm of the capital, I was surprised too, even if I walk there everyday.
Several times we risked our lives on a risciò ( a sort of bike with four wheels)... An advice: never lose your way in Via Nazionale when you're on a risciò and try not to drive in the wrong direction while you're on the tram rails! And if you walk in Via dei Fori Imperiali and see a strange sign on a wall... Well, it's a trace of our passage! °_° '
Several times we warmed ourselves up in a bar (my face and my noises when I drink a coffee in a bar are great: "Blub!:-x Mh! :-S Ghhh! XS Urgh! XO BLEAAARGH!X@ ")!
Several times we were protagonists of stunt shows! My boyfriend indeed taught me something that I was never able to do, before now: jump over a wall keeping my legs up and using just my hands! :-D People must have had a lot of fun watching me... :-$
When this wonderful week finished ( :'( ) Christmas days arrived! So I divided myself among family :-) work >:-( and a terrible cold :-S
And today, finally, I'm here!
So, even if shamefully late, let me wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! :-)
Oh, what a strange sensation, we're in the years 10s!!! :-O
