L'ultimo posto di lavoro che frequentò mia mamma, fino a quando ero piccola io, era un laboratorio dove si fabbricavano pupazzi, porta pigiama, pochettes, imbottiture varie, che si trovava in Piazza Tommasini, a Roma.
Per un po' mamma continuò a lavorare da casa, producendo pupazzi imbottiti di ogni sorta, accettando il mio piccolo e impacciato aiuto... Che meraviglia vederla lavorare con mani esperte, e poi un lavoro così creativo e colorato!
Mi divertivo un mondo anche quando andavamo a trovare le sue ex colleghe. Quel laboratorio era magnifico per me: il negozio strapieno di lavori fatti a mano e le tre stanze di lavoro col pavimento un po' crepato, i vecchi ed enormi banconi di legno... Una porta-finestra sulla piazza, decorata col Puffo Romanista... Migliaia di Bic per annotare le misure, il rumore delle macchine da cucire e delle forbici, la musica di una vecchia radio come sottofondo alle chiacchiere delle persone... Il profumo della colla a caldo e di tutte quelle stoffe... Stoffe variopinte, stoffe pelose, lana , cotone, feltro, disposti su scaffali altissimi... Scatole piene di bottoni, occhi e nasi finti, nastrini colorati... Misteriose macchine per tagliare le forme, nello stanzone in penombra ed un compressore, con una pistola argentata ed un tubo arancione, per soffiarsi di dosso i pelucchi del lavoro...
Tutta questa premessa per dirvi che, da allora, mamma conserva ancora molte stoffe e ritagli di Panno Lenci che non possono rimanere rinchiusi nello sgabuzzino, che spreco! XD
Non sapendo (ancora) cucire, mi sono aggrappata ai ritagli più piccini, ricavandone degli orecchini :-)

The last place where mum worked, until I was a child, was a laboratory in Piazza Tommasini, in Rome, where they made soft toys, pajamas keepers, pochettes and various soft things.
For a certain time mum kept working from home, making a lot of different soft toys, accepting my little and clumsy help... It was so beautiful to see her working with expert hands, and such a creative and coloured work!
I also had a lot of fun when we went visiting her ex work mates. That laboratory was wonderful in my opinion: the shop so full of handmade works and the three working rooms where the the floor was a bit ruined, the old and big wooden desks... A door-window on the square, decorated with an AS Roma supporter Smurf... Thousands of Bic pens to sign measures, the noise of the sewing machines and of the scissors, music coming from an old radio as background to people's chats... The smell of hot glue and of all the fabrics... Multicolored fabrics, furry fabrics, wool, cotton, felt, disposed on really high shelves... Boxes full of buttons, dummie's eyes and noses, coloured ribbons... Mysterious machines to cut shapes, in the big nearly dark room and a compressor, with a silvery gun and an orange tube, to blow away hair of the work from your clothes...
This long introduction just to tell you that mum still has some fabric and felt left from those days and I can't waste them, leaving them in the storage room! XD
Not being able (yet) to sew, I took just the little scraps, making earrings from them :-)

Questi sono montati su un perno con farfallina. Per il momento sono in fase di strapazzamento: voglio assicurarmi che non si stacchino al primo tocco!
This are stud earrings. At the moment I'm still testing them: I want to be sure they don't break at first touch!
Questi mi piacciono un sacco, vorrei ricavare dei cerchi di altri colori per farne degli altri, che ne dite? :-)

Per finire, questi: lato A e lato B dello stesso paio di orecchini! La formina a cuore l'ho ritagliata io, con uno di quei buca fogli sagomati... Ma credo sia in grado di tagliare senza problemi solo la carta... Un male alle mani, quando avevo finito! XD
To finish, these ones: side A and B of the same pair of earrings! I cut the heart shape myself, with one of those things to make shaped holes in paper... But I think it was really just for paper... My hands ached, when I finished cutting! XD
